chiropractor treatment

What is Chiropractic Treatment?

Chiropractic Treatment requires you to lay face down on a bed while gentle pressure is applied to your spine. The Chiropractor applies pressure to your spine so it returns to its normal position. This adjustment promotes better health and relieves pain.

How Much Does Treatment Cost?

Contact us today for a free mini consultation!

After your mini consultation, you may wish to book a follow up appointment. Your Chiropractic treatment usually costs no more than £32 per session.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment is a gentle force introduced into the spine intended to release a vertebral segment from its abnormal motion and/or position.

When the two surfaces of a joint are moved apart rapidly, as happens in a chiropractic adjustment, there is a change of pressure within the joint space. This may sometimes cause a bubble of gas to 'pop' - but this sound is not significant, and does not hurt.

Does Chiropractic Hurt?

In most cases, not at all. In fact most people find having an adjustment very relaxing. With some adjustments you may feel or hear popping sound from the spinal joints. This is caused by a gas release from the joint as spinal movement is restored.

Chiropractors typically use a hand held instrument to adjust an adult spine and other special techniques for adjusting infants and children. Whatever the technique, Chiropractors use skill, not force or strength, to conduct a safe, effective adjustment.

How long will my appointments take?

Your first visit (consultation) will take approximately 30 minutes - 1 hour and may include the first treatment. Follow up treatments will take approximately 10-20 minutes. For more information visit our chiropractic treatment page.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, a referral is not necessary although some insurers require a GP referral before they will authorise care.

What should I wear?

The initial consultation will involve a thorough examination of your complaint. In some cases that may require you to change into a hospital type gown that we provide. For your own comfort we recommend that you bring some shorts or something similar.

What should I bring with me?

If you are on prescription medication, please bring this information to your first appointment as this will help us gain a full case history.

Is chiropractic care for children?

Many childhood health complaints that are brushed off as “growing pains” may be able to be traced to the spine. Regular chiropractic checkups may be able to identify these problems and help avoid some of the health complaints seen later in adults. Naturally, Chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified to a child’s spine.

Am I too old for chiropractic?

No! Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, vitality and endurance. Many patients report improvements with arthritic symptoms and other chronic ailments often associated with the ageing process. The adjusting technique used by your chiropractor will be modified for maximum comfort and results. As we get older and wiser, the simplicity and effectiveness of chiropractic care becomes more and more obvious.

How long will I need chiropractic care?

This will depend on your particular condition, the severity and the length of time you have had the condition. Different people respond at different rates, and some of this also depends on how much of your Chiropractor's advice you follow. The Chiropractor will inform you of your Diagnosis, Prognosis and Treatment Plan once they have examined you.

Some spinal problems may require ongoing supportive care for optimum spinal function. These long-standing problems are often associated with muscle weakness, soft tissue damage, and degenerative changes to the spine.

Most patients find that periodic chiropractic checkups help keep them in tip-top shape. Those who are active, have stressful jobs, or want to be their very best, find that a schedule of visits are helpful in the maintenance of good health.

Some patients seek chiropractic care only when their ache or pain becomes unbearable. How long you decide to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.
